Programs and Workshops for 2024
October 16, 2024 2 guest speakers! Local author Jeffree Wyn Itrich, and quilt designer Judy Steward. Itrich has combined her love of Texas, family history and quilting in her upcoming fictional mystery novel titled, The Wedding Dress Quilt, due to be published on August 25, 2024, by C&T Publishing. She says her novel is, "full of family secrets, a second chance at love, and a stalker - in other words, trouble is right around the corner." "Yet, it is so much more than that." Steward, a well-received lecturer, quilt teacher and pattern designer, will tell her own story about working with Itrich to design a Double Wedding Ring quilt uniquely inspired by Itrich's novel and thoughtfully created from the cloth of six wedding dresses. October 17, 2024 Workshop: Kathy Rector, her pattern: Wheel & Deal. You'll need 9 fat quarters and a square ruler 16" - 20". Email the Guild at HLQGuild@gmail for instruction on the workshop costs, materials and registration.

When quilters don't have access to a stash of quilter's cotton, what do they turn to? In this one hour lecture, trunk show and Q&A session we will explore quilts - antique and modern - made of wool, silk, polyester and more. We'll observe how the use of unusual materials gives rise to alternative construction techniques and design choices. The trunk show of Julia's work shows what you can create with neckties, saris, kimonos and other unusual, 'not cotton' textiles. juliamcleodquilts.com/ November 21, 2024 Workshop: Julia McLeod - Working with Silks
